Mike serves as full-time Pastor-Teacher and is responsible for leading and shepherding through oversight, counseling, education, and administration.
Mike was raised in a non-Christian home and didn’t come to saving faith in Christ until junior high school. He remembers being exposed to the gospel when younger, listening to children’s gospel songs. But, it wasn’t until junior high that he responded in faith to the gospel through a para-church ministry: “It was the first time I was confronted with my sin, and I genuinely repented and put my faith in Jesus Christ alone for my salvation. Christ completely transformed my life!”
Asked about his favorite text of Scripture, Mike says, “Whatever text I’m preaching on for that coming Sunday. But, perhaps, most significantly, 2 Corinthians 4:5–6. This is the motivation for why I love to do what I do. To preach Christ and ‘to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.’”
For several years after graduating from Bible college, Mike was involved in international missions, traveling extensively overseas and preparing full-time missionaries. However, Mike’s desire was always to pursue full-time ministry in the church; the church being his first great love in the ministry. After graduating from The Master’s Seminary in 2005, he served as an associate pastor in eastern Washington State. Then, in 2011, he accepted the call to come and serve as Pastor-Teacher at Tehachapi Sovereign Grace Church. Mike and his wife, Sharon, have two beautiful daughters: Ellianna and Samaria. They love to hang out at home and work around the house, and Mike enjoys traveling and Bible study.
