Meeting Time: 10:15 am

OUR PRIORITY: WORSHIP
On Sunday morning, we are committed to exalting the Lord Jesus Christ through all aspects of the Worship Service. We meet together in a simply auditorium. And we seek not entertain with videos, skits, and professional music. The purpose of our Sunday morning Worship Service is to preach and teach the Word of God in order to equip the saints for works of service and to prepare God’s people to evangelize the lost. The essential elements in our worship service include worshiping God through music and singing, through the reading of Scripture, through corporate prayer, through expository preaching, and (during the third Sunday of every month) through the celebration of the Lord’s Supper. God is absolutely holy, and He alone is the object of our worship.

OUR PROCLAMATION: THE WORD OF GOD
We are firmly committed to the public reading and sequential exposition of God’s Word. Though occasionally a sermon or short sermon series may be organized topically, our regular practice is to preach sequentially through books of the Bible. When we follow the sequence of a book of the Bible from week to week, we inevitably teach on all of the topics that God has revealed to us and place emphasis where He has placed emphasis.

Sermons typically last from 45–50 minutes, and every sermon will seek to explain what the Scripture means and how God would have us obey it. The goal of reading and teaching God’s Word is not simply to help people know more information, but to equip people to become “doers of the word, and not hearers only” (James 1:18).

On Sunday morning, our pastor will usually preach using the New American Standard Update version (nasu) though we also highly recommend the English Standard Version (esv) and the New King James Version (nkjv) of the Bible as well.

OUR PRAISE: MUSIC
We are also committed to music that engages the mind as well as the heart. We believe that the Bible allows for a great deal of freedom in regards to musical styles and musical instruments, which are used in worship. We teach that God is much more concerned with our hearts and minds in worship than He is with the externals.

In our service, our goal is to choose and utilize music and words that will display the glory of God as He has revealed Himself to us in Scripture. We believe music like this can come from a variety of sources. There are many older hymns that paint a very biblical portrait of God, in addition to a number of contemporary choruses. In our Worship Service, we sing both.

Our criteria for selecting music falls into two categories: (1) Are the words biblically and theologically accurate?, and (2) Does the melody compliment the message and truth contained in the song or hymn? Beyond this, we strive for excellence in music and encourage the gifts and talents of any musician God’s brings to the membership of our church family. To lead in music, a person must be mature believer and an active member of Sovereign Grace Church.

OUR PROVISION: GIVING
We teach that there is a clear biblical pattern given to us in Scripture concerning the believer’s financial stewardship. And it begins with a recognition that all money belongs to God (Haggai 2:8). It is God who gives us the “power to make wealth” (Deuteronomy 8:18). Therefore, when it comes to our financial resources, we acknowledge that God owns it all. And He gives us the privilege to earn, and to steward, that which is already His. Knowing this implies that we have a tremendous responsibility to manage God’s resources well, both personally and organizationally, as a church.

Here, at Sovereign Grace Church, we practice voluntary giving. And a copy of the church budget is available to anyone who asks. Voluntary giving means that our giving is not derived from some mandatory percentage, but instead, flows from the heart and is individually determined. We teach that giving is an act of worship. And so, it is an essential part of our Worship Service. All monies received are used to support the ministry of the church and to advance the gospel through our Outreach Ministries.

We recognize that every believer ought to freely give what each one has “purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7). Because believers are to give freely, generously, sacrificially, and cheerfully, it is an expression of our love to God and an act of our obedience to His Word. Therefore, we do not want to neglect, or limit, our eagerness to give because “he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully” (2 Corinthians 9:6). As Jesus Himself said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35).

OUR PEOPLE: THE FAMILY OF GOD
We believe the church is primarily a place of worship for God’s people—those who have repented of their sin and placed their faith in Jesus Christ alone. As such, Sovereign Grace Church exists to stimulate believers to proclaim and protect divine truth, to provide a context of loving fellowship and mutual edification, to equip one another to apply God’s Word, and to exercise our spiritual gifts as a light to the world for the evangelization of God’s elect.

GOD'S PROMISE
Jesus Christ said, “I will build my church; and the gates of Hades shall not overpower it” (Matt. 16:18). He so loved the church that He died for her (Eph. 5:25) that He might sanctify her and present her to Himself in all her glory, blameless and without spot or blemish (Eph. 5:26–27). As head over His bride (Eph. 5:23), Christ also nourishes and cherishes the church (Eph. 5:29), and the church, being “built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets” (Eph. 2:20), functions as “the pillar and support of the truth” (1 Tim. 3:15). Through the church, believers are spiritually equipped (Eph. 4:11–16) and unbelievers are presented with the gospel (Matt. 28:19–20). So long as we live in obedience to His Word, God will continue to bless and grow His church.
